The hand-spun cotton threads used for the body of this large huipil are natural brown warp threads called ixcaco woven in with red, yellow and blue threads; the geometric supplementary weft brocade designs are in silk. The neck opening is finished in the traditional china cinta ribbon and the side edges are open. This rare ceremonial huipil is in excellent condition. i have dozens more huipil from the 70s and 80s; if there's a particular village huipil you are looking for, please email me.
