Handspun and backstrap loomed cotton make Chajul huipiles strong and sturdy because while weaving the women stand instead of sitting or kneeling. This salmon-colored huipil is nevertheless soft with age and in addition to the supplementary weft geometric animals and birds, there are two free-form sewing machine stitched cats on the front and a flying bird on the back neck.
