a fine Antique Turkoman / Turkmen Ersari tribe silk embroidered bag dating to 19th century. Out of most central Asian silk bags, the Ersari types are some of the finest and visually interesting. The example's intricately detailed archaic design is quite different from most one sees. The free flowing lattice field with wider border is visually powerful and this visual spectacle is magnified by the rich contrasting colours. The design repeats similarly on the backside (a common feature). The quality of the fine chain stitched silk embroidery is brilliant and it is in great condition.
