Exceptionally beautiful and unusual 1920's Art Deco Chinese 8'3" x 11', mint condition, natural dyes, thick soft Mandarin quality wool with rare tree and dragon's head motifs design. Pale lavender field with gorgeous greens, gold, orange, yellow, deep red, blues and pink. Dragon heads in the corners bracket an open Chinese fret work lattice at the top end. Suspended from this is a delicate red silk cord from which hang silk lanterns and a silk tassel. Growing around the silk cord is a golden vine with multi-colored grape clusters hanging into the field. a large green branched tree grows from the bottom left corner with multi-colored Jade-like flower heads and leaves growing off the tree in a naturalistic arrangement. It is the ultimate in an Art Deco rendering of traditional Chinese motifs. Exceptional quality and beauty from a private estate collection.
