Antique Tekke Turkmen rug of small size, these rugs are generally considered to be ‘dowry’ weavings. Circa 1900. Size: 4ft 5in x 3ft 3in (135 x 100cm). This is an excellent example with three rows of seven Tekke guls, the minor guls are in alternating shades of indigo blue. The field colour is a very good shade of rose madder red. The boarder is of the sunburst design. The rug is fine and has a soft floppy handle. The rug is in excellent condition with slight even wear and good pile. The rug is suitable for light domestic use.
