Antique Persian silk 'souf' Kashan prayer rug, on an ivory ground with a floral design.
Circa 1900.
Size: 6ft 8in x 4ft 1in (203 x 125cm).
A beautiful rug or wall hanging, silk on a silk foundation. Souf rugs have a sculptured effect, with the design in raised silk pile on a flat woven silk ground.
Outstanding drawing and design with wonderful old colours, the border design is superb.
Good condition, even wear and some corrosion and old repairs.
Ideal to be used as a wall hanging or use in a light traffic area.
Hand washed and ready for use or display.
