This charming Afshar bag face uses rich saturated vegetable colors and soft glossy wool, with rows of alternating flowers and blossom heads drawn against the indigo field. This floral repertoire may ultimately derive from border ornament, but it seems to have been used quite often to form a distinctively Afshar field design. Its use in this example is quite successful, with a particularly masterful use of white for highlighting and contrast.
