Textile used as cape for a life size Saint - San Jorge in this case Bought from village priest after devastating earthquake in Guatemala, February 1976. Priest sold items from the church to get funds for reconstruction. A Capa de Santo - extremely rare. Only had been used for religious purposes and washed only a limited number of times during decades. Dating from around 1920-30. Red cotton ground cloth with spare use of silk brocade, with silk join in center. Minimalist aesthetic with very high Ethnographic value. True collectors piece.
