19th century Middle Amu Daria Torba or Trapping. Probably Beshir group. The piece has an explosive design complex with Persian influences. The colors are all natural and highly saturated. The yellows are clear and vibrant, the rich madder red tends a bit towards the mahogany range and the browns are natural undyed wool. There are eight colors in all. The knot is open right with soft, lush pile that stands nearly upright making the colors quite a bit deeper on the front of the piece than on the back. It is tricky to photograph. The brightest images were shot with my iPhone. The warps are mixed light brown goat hair, the wefts brown wool. It is missing its sides and ends. The size: 16 x 46 inches. Price is fair.
