yamout turkoman saddle rug. a finely woven and very intricate piece which originates from the small Yamout sub groups of Jaffarbi or Goklen in the southern Turkmenistan/northern Persia region. They are called "Salachak" and two similar examples are shown in Uwe Jourdan·s excellent book on Turkoman weavings on page 169. The piece is intact and original and has a slight crease across the centre line, and also three small bruised areas of pile. These are all reflections of the use and purpose it served in Turkmenistan. Reference 2760. Size 98 x 99 cms., or 3ft. square. Euros 260. sold. thank you.
