tekke turkoman horse or camel cover which is antique and would have been used to decorate the head and shoulders of the animal carrying a bride for a wedding ceremony. It is embellished with good luck items such as shells, coins, a fragment of animal bone, tufts of feathers, buttons and small pieces of thin metal. There is a very similar piece illustrated in the text book "Traditional Textiles of Central Asia" as plate 48. This piece has a small tuft of child·s hair attached.
