Antique Sarouk rug lavishly inscribed and dated 1335 ah or 1917 ad. 4' 1" x 6' 6". Pictorial Persian rugs often lack an appeal for those approaching them from a western decorating or collecting viewpoint. Usually folky or carelessly commercial they are seen as somehow less Persian or mysterious and any attempt at a message goes unfulfilled. This lively and delicate example defies all the unhappy stereotypes and reminds us how nicely the human form in an emotional setting can appear when executed by the truly skilled weaver. All very nice colors and commercially colored in a typical light 1920's shade which differs only slightly from the reverse side. Missing a row at each end but with precise and careful overcasting. Good thick pile with no odors, damage, rot or insects or residue. Clean and just needs to be vacuumed. Price includes shipping anywhere in the lower 48 states. Delicately romantic! Detailed pictures available within 24 hours of listing. Please ask if interested.
