An exceptional antique fully silk embroidered Uzbek belt, dating to the 3rd quarter of 19th Century. Besides it's aesthetic and artistic beauty, this a rare example for two particular reasons (attribution and stitch type). Firstly its attribution is interesting. It could either be Shahrisabz region example or likely a rare Ura Tube example. Secondly we often see cross stitch examples but to see such types with combination of chain-stitch, Basma stitch and metal stitch is very rare. The rare floral design is also extremely beautiful and very rare. The gols echo the suzani work we see in Ura Tube examples. The colours are fantastic. The stitching incredible and interesting that the entire piece is stitched, even the black parts. It is in excellent condition with some expected loose threads to the edges. It has original tassel closure and lining. a fine piece worthy of good collection. Colours are much nicer in person. The price is good for the quality. size: 88cm x 10cm (34" x 4")
