Back
a rare pair of antique silver and silk Central Asian hair braid textile dating to late 19th century. It is very likely attributed to a rural Uzbek group and was used during wedding ceremony as part of bridal jewellery and garments. The triangular amulet is known as moska or tawees, which is a talismanic charm containing sacred texts. Archaic designs repeat identically on both sides. The string is silk woven with silver hollow beads and silk and silver tassels in polychrome colours. This ethnographic textile / jewellery is rare and would nicely to any collection. It is in good shape and much nicer in person (hard to photograph this one). Size: each piece is 106cm (46”) in length. The talismanic triangle is 12.5cm (5”) wise and tassels hang 25cm (10”).
