Before 1860
Ottoman Empire
Polychrome embroidered cotton hangings and gold probably from the Ottoman Empire before 1860. Three panels in reversible embroidery of polychromatic silk threads and flat golden threads. Assembled by two ribbons in cream silk satin on which are brooched silver daisies. Unbleached cotton background and loosy canvas armor. Repertoire of bouquets in the shape of boteh and floral tree of life base stylized and rising edges in garlands. Excellent condition and color.
Dimensions: 266 cm x 146.5 cm
Very beautiful quality of the reversible embroideries of which Turkish craftsmen had inherited the secret. The exact origin is difficult to identify because this type of taperstry is rarely found on the art market. Probability from Ottoman Empire or Mahgreb (?).
No hitch or hole. Good resistance of the fabric ... Very slightly dusty, otherwise very good condition.
