An outstanding example of Antique Uzbek Lakai tribe silk cross stitched shield shaped talismanic hanging known as Uut Kap Ilgich, dating to the 19th century. This is one of the best examples of Lakai cross stitched silk embroidered hangings i have seen and it matches the quality and finesse of the coveted Shahrisabz Iroqi stitched silk embroideries but of course it is fully te work of the Lakai tribe. The two often get confused for another. The embroidery is exceptionally fine. The rich colours are bold magnifying the beauty of the vibrant design. The memling gul field motifs contrasts beautifully with the twin rams horn border and the ‘s’ motifs. This textile art is just a magnificent play of colour and design and much nicer than the photos. One of the best i have seen. It has gorgeous Russian cotton lining. In good shape. Size 55cm x 32cm (21.5” x 12.5”)
