An exceptional and top tier example of an antique Uzbek Lakai Tribe silk embroidered Ilgich / Ayna Khalta hanging dating to the third quarter of 19th century. This is one of the most coveted examples i have seen. The sophisticated design consists of central cross motif with rams horn endings. This familiar design has been executed exceptionally well and has outstanding intricate detail. The four surrounding motifs of stars and insect design are also executed really well. The directional quality of the silk embroidery is magnificent. The colours are brilliant and on the spot, contrasting beautifully against the black ground cloth. The ground fabric has some age wear but as it is backed with another black fabric, it can hardly be seen let alone distract. It is in good and acceptable overall shape. As good as it gets and arguably one of the oldest one i have seen.. gorgeous polychrome tassels and red cotton lining. Price is fair for quality. Email your questions
