2nd half 19th century.
Size: 5ft 0in x 4ft 6in. (153 x 137cm).
This is a scarce rug of very fine weave, the design is a large vase with a floral spray surrounded by flowers and leaves with stars. The borders are beautifully drawn examples of classic Afshar designs. The rug has a wonderful array of soft pastel colours.
The rug is in good condition for its age, it has a very thin cloth like handle, even overall wear with low pile. There are some old re-weaves and repairs scattered throughout the field.
