Pastoralists of the high Andes, the Aymara indians live at an elevation of over 12,500 feet above sea level on the Altiplano of Bolivia and Peru. For millennia they have been weaving amazingly fine and sophisticated textiles using fibers from their herds of alpacas and llamas. The Aymara textile tradition is one of the least know and understood of the worlds great wool weaving traditions.
