Zhuang Wedding Blanket: Beautiful supplementary weft, three paneled embroidered blanket from the Zhuang people in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Province, China. It was traditional until the late 80s that women from this area and ethnic group to make a wedding blanket prior to marriage as a demonstration of her skills as a weaver. This piece is in excellent condition, from the first half of the 20th century. It is woven from all handspun materials, with the foundation being made of cotton while the embroidery is silk floss thread. The border is contemporary machine made satin with a bamboo pattern. w: 103cm/40.5in and l: 153cm/60.2in. With border total w: 132cm/51in and l: 174/68.5in.
