Gabon 3rd quarter 20th century. good condition.
This is a beautiful, high-quality example of a tribal used Guard's image.
It played an important role in rituals around the ancestors.
The worship of the ancestors are at the heart of the religious and social life of the Kota.
Upon the death of the chief are parts of his body decorated with metal and rubbed with magic powders and kept in a basket.
Up there is on than a guard's image like this one. This image is remarkably refined allowing front among the various geometric patterns invested another snake-like thickening was created, like a tatoo.
The back is also fine topped with red copper in geometric patterns.
The picture has a wonderful patina and aging use but is in good condition!
