Description:
sold we are pleased to offer you this beautiful antique or semi antique tribal afshar carpet likely from the jiroft district.
all wool, handwoven construction (weft, warp, and pile).
incredible symmetric / repetitive boteh field, with contrasting guard borders.
if you examine the photos carefully, you can see the exceptional, intricate details of the design, using a sophisticated 8-color dye palette.
this rug deserves to be hung on the wall!
recently acquired from the estate of 2 retired antique dealers / collectors who had a store on melrose ave, los angeles back in the late 1960s - 1990s.
Dimensions: it is not a perfectly symmetrical and measures approx. 4' feet x 5'FEET.
Condition:
RUG is in very good antique condition showing wear consistent with age and regular use (see photos).
the pile is low overall, showing nice even wear with some areas evidently lower than others, but these rugs were "closed cropped" when woven and never intended to have thick pile (see photos).
the rug appears to be clean but should be washed professionally (see photos).
no smells.
the field shows a few small areas of light color discoloration (see photos). this could be touched up by a professional oriental rug cleaner/restorer - i would use the highly reputable (and very reasonably priced, kate blatchford, here in san diego, ca.)
there is a small wear hole in the center (see photos), that could also easily be professionally mended (see photos).
a tough find in any condition.
we are happy to supply more photos if requested.
sold as found, as shown-described, as is.
nothing else promised or implied.
asking $675 or best offer.
we are in southern california 1/2 north of san diego, please don't hesitate to call us!
