a museum grade antique Imperial Chinese deagon silk woven textile from early Qing / Ching / Tsing Dynasty, likely dating to early 18th century. It is a fantastic piece of textile art, as one would expect from the Qing dynasty. The central silk with the dragon is very likely Kesi / k’o-ssu silk which is really one of the most sophisticated and intricate weaving type in history of mankind. So much so that an inch of Kesi silks was historically valued the same as an ounce of gold. The dragon's scales are gilded metal. The design is fantastic. Notice the five claws on the dragon which is a sign of imperial textile. She floats on the sky above the waves of the sea. It is edged with fine silk embroidery of flowers, butterflies and birds. This magnificent piece would work well in any good collection as a fine textile art. In a very good condition. Offered at a very good price. size: 95cm x 50cm (37" x 20").
