First half of the 19th century Anatolian Kilim. This piece has great colors. The proportions and scale of the weaving are right. Its well balanced composition lends a sort of rhythmic, musical quality to the piece that is very satisfying. The un-dyed black ground border contrasts beautifully with the white field and shows off the excellent colors found there. The yarns are nicely spun and the wool lustrous. This kilim is nearly complete and was made in two pieces. There are small losses to the two ends, but the side selvedges are there. It has minor restoration work that takes some looking to find.
