An fine antique gold appliqué and silver Turkoman / Turkmen Yomut / Yomud tribe, bridal jewellery ornament known as Girda or Gulyakhan. Dating to late 19th century / early 1900’s, this circular jewellery was part of the bridal outfit attached on the garment like a talisman to bring protection and prosperity to the bride. They were often very cherished jewellery items and thus very rare to find. This particular example is exceptional. It is made of gold and silver. The design is very archaic with rams horn motif. As good as many published examples and unlike many later replicas flooding the market. a real gem worthy of good collections. In mint condition. Offered at a reasonable price. Size: diameter is 5cm (2”).
