Tabriz Carpet 8.4 x 12.5 2.56 x 3.81 The ruby red field displays a classical 16th century Persian pattern of predators, prey, animal combats, cloudbands and palmettes, all in constant motion. The green main border shows animal heads and faces in the rinceaux and flowers, and there are large, serpentine cloudbands. The inner guard has yellow calligraphic poetic cartouches. The carpet has irregular wear, but the design is very much intact. Circa: 1910 (35286)
