Back
Very fine woven kilim, around 1930.
'Sarkoy', is the name Turkish rug deales gave to these
Balkan made weavings.
It is in fact a misleading name, suggesting they only were made
on Turkish soil while these kilims were made in Bulgaria and Macedonia.
Sarkoy is the name of a harbour at the Black Sea coast, that part of Ottoman Turkey the Turks could keep when they where pushed out of the Balkans by the Bulgarians, Roemanians, Serbs, Macedonians and Greeks in 1913.
The big ones are thick, 3 mm, and very durable made to serve on the floor.
While this small one is very fine and thin made.
Often used as a wall hanging.
In very good condition, no staines, no holes, perfect edges, clean.
Warm white in the border, no bleeding!, warm white bordering snow white, see detail Photo's.
Lovely wall hanging.
