Mahal Carpet 8.11 x 12.3 2.47 x 3.74 a navy four pendanted medallion dominates the old ivory field with a small floral pattern organised around eleven vertical staves. Rosettes, laves and little palmettes figure in the pattern and there are elaborate half-pendanted corners en suite to the dramatic medallion. The madder red border displays colourful rosettes and palmettes alternating on curving double vines. The colours are crisp, all natural, and the pile is in very good condition on this most attractive, well constructed west Persian carpet. Circa:1920 (56146)
