Bidjar Carpet 9.8 x 15.6 2.98 x 4.75 This particularly curvilinear Kurdish city carpet looks more like a Kashan with its complex allover pattern, but there is no medallion. Instead the rinceaux spiral and split, sprout colourful palmettes on the crisp red ground. The navy border alternates octogrammes and palmettes with volutr forked "leaves" between. This is a very, very solid and well woven carpet from the 1930's from a desirable and celebrated weaving area in immaculate condition. Circa: 1920 (33210)
