This intriguing pile bagface was most likely woven somewhere in the south Caucasus close to the Persian border and exhibits traits from several groups. The filed draws a shrubs in a lattice design, a variant seen frequently in Shirvan rugs. The weave is somewhat depressed reminiscent of both some Kuba weaving groups but also perhaps of Shahsevan tribal weaving. Color is crisp and natural with both deeply saturated as well as lighter almost pastel tones. Of particular merit is the main border which draws rows of blue chickens in a folk style against a deep madder-red ground.
