a brilliant antique Turkoman / Turkmen felt / namad with applique Bokcha bag attributed to the Yomud / Yomut tribes. This magnificent textile dates to the 19th century. As rare as these are, this example is unquestionably one of the best i have seen. The design is constructed with tiny triangular moska appliques (in red, green and indigo) collaged together to make rams horn motifs surrounded with animal figures. It contracts beautifully with the white felt ground. The Bokhcha was a bridal bag that was used to carry the dowry textiles in it for the wedding ceremonies (especially the ones this size). To find a namad / felt type in such good condition is hard. Often they get destroyed by moths or over time. It has beautiful original tassels with wool and goat or horse hair woven in the braided tassels. a great piece of art offered art. size: 60cm x 56cm (24" x 22") with tassels extending extra 6-7".
