#7781 Antique Peking Chinese Rug
This circa 1890 antique Peking Chinese Oriental Rug measures 11’0 x 13’9” (335 x 424 cm). It has a medium blue field with an overall design that is slightly offset. The rug has a small center medallion surrounded with a cloud design. There are various Buddhist iconographies in the field such as the candle, the scroll and the ribbon. These are done in two shades of ivory and light blue. The minor inside border is a light sky blue and has a dark blue hash mark indicating ‘shou’ separated with images of the endless knot in ecru color. The major border consists of meandering vine and flower motif in two shades of blue and ivory on a wide ecru ground. There is a reweave in the top left quadrant of the rug that is about 1 foot square. The rug is essentially full pile. The ends and sides are complete. It is clean and ready to go. The buyer pays the shipping with insurance.
