Antique Chinese textile, rank badge, Chinese Mandarin square, Silver Pheasant, 5th Civil rank, hand embroidered silk brick stitch, with couching of gold metal threads around the border, woven in 2 pieces for the front of a woman's robe, Mid 19thC, design elements harkening to the 2nd Qtr 19thC: open space around the bird, 5 bats in flight, rolling water with precious objects; but with the deep water design that appeared in squares starting around 1850, without the clutter and bright aniline dyes that crept into designs of the 1860's, some minor staining, loose metal threads, a bit of what looks like adhesive residue in the border, the approximate size is 11.5inches x 11.25 inches, #je-16, shipping is extra
