Sewan Kazak, Bordjalou region, 180 x 130cm. (5.9ft x 4.25ft) ca. 1900. The design with a large mint-green cruciform medallion on a brick-red ground. The main border with a row of red, green and ivory octagons with eight-pointed star motifs. Attractive white-ground shield border with cross motifs and small, brown guarding dogs. On either side of the niches, there are the stems of simple trees of life. All natural dyed colours. Condition:
Fairly coarse weave with slight overall wear. Original double selvedges. At the lower end, there are a few rows of knots missing of the dark- brown outer guard strip: presently secured.
