The Kurds of Senna produce kilim of very sophisticated construction. Their rugs have easily identifying characteristics : fields of repeating floral pattern, cotton warps and wool weft, very fine slitweave with extra weft inserts. All these are manifest in this saddle cover, with detailed flowers and zoomorphic forms, executed in beautiful yellows and blues. This item was deacquisitioned from the Textile Museum with tag still attached. POR Circa: 19th C.
