Just in time - a Christmas Baluch balisht with real Christmas colors.
a small 17" x 34" (43cm x 86cm) Sistan Baluch balisht (pillow) made as
a dowery piece for their own use, not commercial. This lovely little
pillow face is quite worn but still lovely with a deep rich pallet of
rust red, deep aubergine, blue/green, natural brown, natural white and
all on a natural camel hair background. Some of the wool was dyed with
a corrosive mordant and or dye and shows the resulting corrosion. The
blue/green was one of these colors. Finely woven on light grey wool
warps and using the same wool for most of the wefting except for the top
end where she used camel hair for the final wefting. Gem like all natural
colors make this a delightful little study rug for any collection.
thanks for looking and happy holidays
