Back
Beautiful antique Uzbek Suzani from the Ura Tube region, which is now in Tajikistan. Silk embroidery on a hand woven linen base cloth, which has darkened from age where exposed. Late 19th century, maybe earlier. Beautiful natural colors. Cochineal that ranges from magenta to purple.
Good condition for age with some minor stains, minor embroidery thread loss, some loose threads and some small holes on the base fabric, which have been patched from the back with a linen-like fabric and secured. The embroidery has not been affected by the holes. Some minute holes have not been backed. Slight blushing of black/dark brown. It was very smoky, but it has been hand washed, and is clean. Some seams are original, but some have been resewn with linen thread. a couple of original blue silk hanging loops on one side.
See the photographs, which were taken outdoors without a flash on a cloudy day. The sun was peaking out when i took the photograph of the back, so the bright spots are only the sun.
I do not accept returns, so please ask questions, and if desired, request more photographs. If you would like more photographs, please message me.
