Lovely double sided Zayan rug from the western middle atlas range of Morocco. This particular piece is a double sided (pile and flat weave) rug with considerable amounts of natural indigo dating it to the 1940's. For the Zayan rugs like these would be used with the flat weave up during the day, or while guests were about while the pile side would be for sleeping on. Rugs like these are becoming much more difficult to find.
