a rare pair of antique Kirghiz namad / felt embroidered Ok bash, dating between late 19th century and early 1900's . These yurt / tent textiles were possibly tent pole covers for when the tribe migrated during the change of seasons. Often one sees such Kirghiz ok bashes on a red toned ground. But to find a yellow grounded one (and a pair for that matter) is extremely rare and can suggest that these yellow types may have been made for ceremonial tents (such as wedding tent). a rare tribal piece of Central Asia textile with a very archaic design. The reverse side is identical in design. size: 54cm x 29cm (21" x 11") tassels extend an an extra 26cm (10").
