This is one of the rarest type of textile that you don’t see every day. They are the most coveted of all silk woven textiles of the silk road.. The fine Kesi weaving technique of the Ming dynasty is the pinnacle of Chinese silk weaving as perfectly exhibited by this masterpiece. To find one with with complete condition and with gold threads incorporated as the tail of the dragon is a reflection of the finest of Chinese textiles. The colours are phenomenal. The detail of the design is magnificent, you see the polychrome hills, the lotus, the clouds and The full dragon. It’s a a complete piece with some expected abrasion, and considering the age of the piece the age wear can be forgiven. Similar examples have sold for fortune at major auction houses.
