Ocarina in the shape of a serpent, Colima, West Mexico, Terracotta, Ca. 100 b.c. to 250 a.d., 6.5" (16.5 cm) long by 4.5" (11.4 cm) wide. Ocarina in a curled serpent form with head over tail, blow hole at the back and four holes for different notes on the body. It produces rich, resonant sound when played. There is a hole at he bottom for suspension, see next to last photo. No damage or restoration. Exhibited at the Marjorie Barrick Museum, unlv, 2000s. Ex. private Nevada collection, ex.
