a fine and very good example of antique silk woven Imperial Chinese rank badge from Early Qing / Ching / Tsing dynasty or even as old as late Ming dynasty. Dating between 17th - 18th Century. Such rank badges were often given to high ranked ministers or officials residing in the forbidden city. They would be attached on the back and front of the garment. This is a brilliant example, which i had initially thought was Qing but i was corrected by an expert in these as older and likely turn of the Ming and Qing dynasties. It came from a renowned collection. The detail of the bird, the fish, the water waves and clouds is an indication of very high quality. a lovely collectible piece offered at a reasonable price. size: put together 30cm x 28cm (12" x 11") .
