#7599 Antique Yoruk Kilim Rug
This beautiful mid to early 19th century Yoruk Kilim measures 5’10” x 13’4” (180 x 408 cm). It is woven as usual in two panels and put together. What is unusual is the weaver managed a perfect match. At first glance the kilim comes across as a single weaving. How cool is that? The motif is very Yoruky. There are three ivory medallions spanning from indigo blue, red and that beautiful Turkish green. i cannot put a name on the border. It is unique to me. There are a couple of places, very minor, that could be worked on. Some clients prefer the rug not to be repaired and since the repair is so minor i am leaving it alone. If the buyer wants it fixed, i will have it fixed and pay for it. You should blow up the picture, sit back and stare at it. The longer you look, the better it gets! This is one of the finest examples of nomad art that i have ever seen. Just look at the use of color and the asymmetry of the design. It is unbelievable. This is a Picasso in wool. The more i look at it. The less i want to sell it. The rug is clean and ready to go. The buyer pays the shipping including insurance
