#7664 Antique Peking Chinese Oriental Rug
This circa 1890 Peking Chinese rug measures 9’10” x 18’10” (304 x 576 cm). It has a beautiful blue field with scattered iconography of peonies, butterflies, vases of flowers on tables and urns filled with flowers. It has a center medallion of a wreath with a large flower in the center. The corners are worked in an interesting motif of a table with ribbons and scrolls and what appear to be mahjong tiles. The major border is approximately 1 foot wide with the scrolls, flowering urns in the corners, cloud motif and large flowers all on a dark brown ground. This rug has a couple of low spots which are visible mainly when one looks into the pile. When looking over the pile they are hard to see. Nevertheless, the rug is 99% full pile. The wear is confined to three areas. The ends and sides are complete. It is clean and ready to go. The buyer pays the shipping with insurance of $225.
