An Exceptional Antique 19th c. Uzbek Adras quilted Ikat bed spread from Bokhara / Bukhara region. This is one of the very few examples of authentic Uzbek bed spread i have seen in over a decade. At the centre is an outstanding silk warp / cotton weft Ikat with a magnificent designs with a burst of motifs that include of flowers, fruits and vegetation, including classic pomegranate and botehs as well as shamanistic motifs such as rams horn and ‘s’ motifs. The tie dye is made of five beautiful crisp natural colours, which indicate high quality. It is edged with a rich natural dyed cotton fabric and finished in a quilted manner. It is finished with an outstanding Russian print cotton lining. About a foot of the length is folded back that can be opened up. Such a textile was clearly a dowry offering and placed on the bridal bed on the wedding night. It is in a very good condition. a really good collectible piece.
