liquidating an old collector's estate in del mar for a probate attorney...buy at starting bid or make a fair offer! this is a beautiful and unusual early 1900s havasupai / yavapai / hualapai native american indian polychrome winnowing basket or tray with an unusual radiating zig-zag sun ray / stair step, or lighting bolt design. you can research online and there are very few pictured with this pattern. the center of the basket is a very faint pale creamy yellow color, so the zig-zags radiating from the center may likely represent the sun rays?. the photos were taken in direct sunlight with the sun setting over my left shoulder when i took the photos so the lighting appears a tad brighter on one side of the basket, however in person the overall color of the basket is very even. the dark grass used in the radiating pattern i believe is devil's claw, but i'm no expert. the center of the basket is a faint creamy yellow (to represent the sun?) excellent design, lovely patina...displays beautifully! measures 13" diameter by 1.5" tall. condition: please examine all photos carefully. ask all questions / concerns before buying as this is a probate estate sale and subject to probate court guidelines ~ all sales final. overall excellent condition (see photos). structurally sound (see photos) appears to be 1 stitch worn / missing (see photo #11) appears to be some tiny tidbits of glitter stuck to a tiny isolated area (see photo #12) some mild dust / estate grunge inside consistent with age.
