Late 19th c. Velvet Embroidery
Wall hanging of purple silk velvet with large floral bouquet worked in gold metallic thread. Small floral bouquets and single flower worked in gold metallic thread interspersed in field around center bouquet. Border of floral with lattice. Center: 28” wide x 53” long. Small bouquets: 3 ½” x 6”. Single flowers: 2” x 3 ½”. Border: 2 ½”. Edged: ½” gold tape with 1” fringe
Condition: Gold work in good condition.
One “l” shaped tear in field. 2” x 1/1/2”
Size: 6’ x 7’3”, velvet in two pieces, seam down center lengthwise
Center: 28” wide x 53” long
Small bouquets: 3 ½” x 6”
