19th c. Jacquard Heraldic Tapestry
Center of shield with crossed spears, battle-axes, and pendants. (24” w x 26” l). Four corners with figure in armor plate, shield, spears, battle-axes, horns, and pennants. 4 corner repeat. 7” border with repeat shield and pennants. Colors of rust brown, tan, brown, cream, red, blue and some pale orange. Gold metallic threads used in center, edge, and corner patterns. 4½”metallic fringe all around textile. Backed with yellow and cream stripped cotton in 2 pieces with seam down center length. Floats on back of weaving.

Size: overall 69”w x 74”L
Condition: Good condition, except some threads loose, warp threads breaking thru in places, and some separation of weft in places.
