Chinese Silk Embroidery
Hand embroidered panel with inner rectangle of roundel center depicting a pagoda and lake setting. Included are two flying cranes and a pine tree symbolizing longevity, majesty, and wisdom. Tan silk background. Field with bats with swastika used to depict the saying: “May you have the greatest joy”; lotus flowers a symbol of purity; chrysanthemums flowers a symbol of gentility, nobility, and longevity; and peony flowers a symbol of wealth and advancement.
Backing of gold cloud patterned silk. Made of one piece of silk. Some separation of silk seam from backing silk at top and bottom of piece. Small body silk separations of no more than 1” in spots.
