Late 19th c. Star Suzani
Center of eight pointed star (28 ½” w x 34” l) with center flower of 13 ½” dia. Four larger floral of 19” diameter with 8½” dia. flower at each corner. Six smaller floral of 16’”dia. with
8 ½” floral at sides and top and bottom. 5” border with flower and leaf.
Eleven colors of: rose, indigo, eggplant, peach, white, black, yellow, copper brown, vermillion, pale orange, and pink. All silk basma stitch hand embroidery overall. Background of tan machine made cotton of four panels of 13” width. Backed with black heavy cotton.
Size: 80” w x 87” L
Condition: Good condition, except some thread loss throughout. Some fabric separation at center and in ground cotton in a few places.
